A family member of mine was in the Ballarat Base Hospital ICU after suffering a heart attack at 51 years of age. They hung on for several weeks, though passed away while holding our mother’s hand. Dr. Will Ainslie was kind. He explained everything to us clearly. He didn’t rush us into making decisions. His approach, and that of his team, had a huge impact on my family. We felt supported and cared for. I know the word ‘care’ is in the job title, but I always thought of that as a clinical term… ‘Intensive Care’. He cared. Cared for all of us. Will made a wretched time feel that little bit less scary. My family didn’t get to thank him, but he and his team were a God send for us.
