1 review about Dr Bernadette Parry
She was arrogant and impatient. She didn’t bother to explain to me the reasons she was about to sneakily induce my labour. I had slightly raised creatine (an amino acid derivative) levels and no other signs of stress or ill-health, but Dr Parry decided without even telling me what she was about to do, to induce my labour the following day. My baby was not ready to be born at 36.5 weeks. He was happy inside my uterus fine tuning his last stages of development while having access to the perfect supply and balance of ingredients – those supplied only while the baby is still inside the uterus. This was my 3rd time giving birth and my previous two experiences were problem free through the public health system. Because I was older now (35 yrs old, so not that old), my partner pushed for me to engage with a private gynaecologist. Bernadette Parry came up as a recommendation and her appointment rooms were local.
I wish so much that I never met her, that she never intervened. I’m still very fit and healthy today at 51 years old and the creatine levels which were only temporarily slightly raised never posed any realistic threat to my health had I have been able to carry my son to full-term just like I easily did with my previous two pregnancies. Elevated creatine can indicate the kidneys are under some strain, but I was more than willing to have my kidneys struggle for another couple of weeks so that my baby could remain in utero. My creatine levels were within normal range straight after being forced to give birth. Meantime, my son didn’t benefit from the last few weeks of development in the ideal uterine environment, he was too weak to breastfeed naturally which compromised my milk production and the crucial early stages of bonding and now at 15 years old, he is always in trouble at school and although he plays premiere league football and is training to play professionally, he keeps injuring ligaments in his right knee which sidelines him for months at a time and causes significant days off school. I believe Bernadette Parry couldn’t be bothered worrying about the very slight chance that one of her patients might have a future kidney problem, so she sacrificed the development of my baby so that she could relax in the knowledge that I could never present with a kidney problem she was in any way responsible for contributing to.
I will never forget being forced into labour. I know it didn’t feel right at the time, but she had tricked me and once it’s been induced, it can’t be reversed. She told me she was doing a routine check, but she PAINFULLY pushed some hook type device into my completely closed, unprepared cervix to rupture the amniotic sac that had otherwise been keeping my baby in a sterile environment. Then she had a go at me for saying how much that had hurt and for asking her what she had just done. She said “he’ll be born tonight or tomorrow and I thought you would handle the pain better than that”. No explanation offered. Just arrogant dismissal of my question like I’m some kind of lesser evolved imbecile. Other nurses were giving me sleeping pills and synthetic oxytocin. All pharmaceuticals were simply administered to me without my knowledge, understanding or consent.
Bernadette Parry caused damage to my son and took from him the chance to reach his potential. She stole from him a month of gestation. There is every chance he would’ve been ready to come out at 41 weeks just like my first two. I’ll never know or be able to prove the damage she has done, but I know she definitely did no good. I wish I never spent a cent of my hard earned money on someone so blase and disrespectful. Her decision to induce my labour because she didn’t want the inconvenience had my kidneys been temporarily not functioning perfectly, was selfish and based on current guidelines, not medically justified.
Wish I never walked into her office.
